Jerry West is an American basketball executive and former player, who played professionally for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1960 to 1974 and as coach for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1976 to 1979.

Jerry West initiated the foundation of the Lakers three-peat NBA titles from 2000 to 2002 when he traded Vlade Divac for the draft rights to Kobe Bryant, signed free agent center Shaquille O’Neal, and signed six-time NBA champion Phil Jackson as a coach.
