Hip Hop Group Cypress Hill Gets Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Cypress Hill is living proof that blazing trails, and trees, can lead you to great things … like your very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Cypress Hill received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday morning, April 18, 2019. Cypress Hill is the first Latino American hip-hop group to pickup a platinum recording.

Current band members include Louis “B-Real” Freese (lead vocals since 1988), Senen “Sen Dog” Reyes (vocals since 1988), Lawrence “DJ Muggs” Muggerud (turntables, samples from 1988–2004 and 2014–present), and Eric “Bobo” Correa (drums, percussion since 1993).

Comedian George Lopez was a speaker that honored the hip-hop group at the ceremony.

Cypress Hill, the first Latino American hip-hop group with a recording to go platinum, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday morning.

The song and music video is about B-Real telling a story about his alter-ego Dr. Greenthumb, a cannabis/marijuana grower. According to SFGATE, Cypress Hill is an advocate for cannabis in the United States, and sells their own legal marijuana products.
